Botanical Gardens & Artful Landscapes
Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens
Morikami is unlike anywhere else in Palm Beach County.
Inspired by traditional Japanese gardens, this space invites a different kind of presence—quieter, more intentional, more aware. Each garden is thoughtfully designed, with winding paths, still water, and carefully placed elements that guide you through a series of subtle emotional shifts.
It’s a place that naturally slows you down.
Whether you’re drawn to the reflections in the water, the textures of stone and sand, or the gentle movement of koi beneath the surface, Morikami offers a kind of calm that lingers long after you leave.

PS. If you’re visiting with kids—or honestly, even as an adult who just wants a little moment of joy—you can sometimes purchase small portions of fish food to feed the koi but they don’t exactly advertise it.
Mounts Botanical Garden
Nestled in the heart of West Palm Beach, Mounts Botanical Garden is a sanctuary of tranquility and botanical diversity. Green Cay Nature Center
Green Cay offers an immersive wetlands experience with elevated boardwalks weaving through marshes and cypress swamps. Wildlife sightings are frequent and ever-changing.
Just across the street is Wakodahatchee Wetlands listed below—it’s smaller, but incredible for close-up bird watching. Honestly, I love both, and you truly never know what you’ll see.

Wakodahatchee Wetlands
Wakodahatchee Wetlands is one of those places that feels alive in a very immediate, almost intimate way.
The elevated boardwalk loops through ponds and marshes, bringing you surprisingly close to the wildlife that calls this space home. Birds nest here, feed here, raise their young here—and if you take your time, you’ll begin to notice just how much is happening all around you.
It’s especially magical during nesting season, when the energy shifts and the wetlands feel full of movement and sound. But even on quieter days, there’s a sense of rhythm to this place—the gentle ripple of water, the stillness between moments, the feeling that nature is unfolding right in front of you.
Visit early in the morning just after sunrise or at sunset for the best experience.

PS. This is one of my favorite spots to meet for 1:1 Photography Lessons if you’re interested in photographing wildlife.
