Working Across Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade

South Florida is basically three counties that behave like three different markets, and a site trying to speak to all of them at once usually lands in none of them. Search is the clearest example.

I’ve written up the web design mistakes that cost Miami businesses clients, and for the Gulf Coast side of the state, a guide to web design for Naples businesses.

Someone in Fort Lauderdale and someone in Jupiter looking for the same service will type different things, and Google treats those as separate searches with separate results. A single page that says “serving South Florida” competes for the regional phrase and almost nothing else. Businesses with real reach here are usually built with a page per market underneath a regional parent, each one written for that area rather than duplicated with a name swapped.

If you have more than one location, the site has its own set of problems: hours that differ by site, staff that differ by site, and a visitor who needs to land on the right one without thinking about it. That either gets designed deliberately or it gets messy fast.

Most of my work is remote, including clients well outside South Florida, so the standard is set by people who could hire anyone anywhere.
