André Barbault was a French astrologer who died in 2019 at 89. He spent decades studying how world events lined up with the outer planets, and he built something called the Cyclic Index, a tool that measures how clustered or spread out those planets are at any given time, and tracks that number against historical periods of crisis and stability. He wrote about a low point around 2020 well before it arrived. That part of his work is on the record, in his own books.

Barbault didn’t leave behind a citable line naming this exact configuration “the Basket” or dating it to July 19-21. What he documented was broader: the Cyclic Index bottoming out around 2020 to 2022, then climbing back through the mid-2020s, with the February 2026 Saturn-Neptune conjunction marked as a turning point. The tighter dating and the basket language attached to this specific window are later additions, built on top of his framework.

That’s also why sources describe it a little differently from each other. Some count four planets, some five. Some include Saturn, others leave it out.
