Your progressed moon, included

Most free chart tools stop at the natal wheel. This one also calculates your current progressed moon, the slow inner clock that moves about one degree a month and changes sign roughly every two and a half years. It tracks what you are working through now, and you get a short read on yours alongside the chart. If you want the longer version of what the progressed moon does, start here.

What is a Birth Chart?

A birth chart is a snapshot of the sky at the exact moment you were born.

It maps where everything was at that moment, showing how different parts of your life are shaped and where patterns often play out.

Visually, it appears as a 360° wheel divided into twelve sections. Each section represents a different area of life, while the planets move through those areas and take on the qualities of the signs they’re in.

Most astrology charts will show you these pieces.
The part that matters is how they fit together.

What you’re seeing in your Free Natal chart

Your chart is made up of three main layers:

the planets

what is moving and expressing

the signs

how those planets operate

the houses

where those patterns show up in your life

And sure… you can look at each piece on its own, but that’s not where the meaning is.

THE DEEPER Story

how your chart fits together

It’s easy to stop at “Sun in this, Moon in that.”

But your chart is so much more than a checklist.

The way your placements interact with each other is what really matters. And that’s the part most charts don’t show you.

If you want to learn how your chart comes together, you can explore those deeper layers inside Your Beautiful Birth Chart™.

Why People Love Aesthetic Birth Charts

Most free astrology sites still feel cluttered, overwhelming or frozen in early internet design. Tiny text. Dense reports. Fifteen tabs open at once.

This chart experience was designed differently.

The goal was to create a cleaner, more modern and more visually intuitive way to explore astrology without stripping away depth. You can switch color experiences in real time, explore placements interactively and move through the chart more naturally, without walls of generic text in the way.

Interactive Birth Charts vs Static Astrology Reports

Most free astrology reports give you a long list of basic definitions.

Your Sun means this.
Your Moon means this.
Your Venus means this.

But astrology is about interaction and synthesis.

That’s why I wanted this to be interactive. You’re able to visually explore how your placements connect to each other, how collective transits move through your chart dynamically, and really understand how astrology works.

The Your Beautiful Birth Chart interface, showing placements by sign and house with explanations alongside them rather than a static report

Your Beautiful Birth Chart™ goes much deeper with:

an interactive learning mode
real-time transits and date navigations to look ahead
deeper chart exploration and expanded interpretations
a printable, gift-worthy multi-page document you can save
and a more immersive chart experience designed to help you learn your own patterns over time

And if you want to go beyond a traditional astrology chart entirely, that’s where Your Personal Pattern™ and Your Contribution Pattern™ come in.

Those are not your average astrology reports filled with disconnected placement blurbs. They are designed to synthesize the deeper structure of a chart and look at how patterns repeat, reinforce, compensate and evolve across the whole system of the chart itself.

A very different experience, and a very different depth.

How to Read the Main Parts of a Birth Chart

The Zodiac Signs

The signs describe the style or flavor of energy. Aries moves differently than Pisces. Virgo processes differently than Sagittarius. The signs help describe how a placement is likely to express itself.

The Planets

The planets represent different psychological functions and life themes. The Moon relates to emotional processing. Venus relates to attraction, values and connection. Saturn relates to structure, pressure and maturity.

The Houses

The houses show where these energies play out in your life. They represent different areas of experience, helping show where certain themes often become more active, noticeable or personally meaningful over time.

The Angles

Your rising sign or Ascendant (ASC), Midheaven (MC), Descendant (DSC) and Imum Coeli (IC) create the framework of the chart. These points shape identity, visibility, relationships and foundational patterns.

The Aspects

Aspects are the relationships between planets. They show tension, harmony, repetition, internal contradiction, natural strengths and developmental themes. This is where charts really feel more nuanced and personal.

The Transits

Transits track where the planets are moving in the sky right now and how those movements interact with your natal chart. They help explain why certain seasons of life feel heavier, faster, more emotional, more expansive or more transformative than others.

How Do I Find My Rising Sign?

Your rising sign, also called the Ascendant, is the zodiac sign that was coming up over the eastern horizon at the moment you were born. The chart above calculates it from your birth date, time and location, and marks it on the wheel as ASC.

You need your birth time for this one. The rising sign moves through all twelve signs in a day, changing roughly every two hours, so being off by an afternoon puts you in a different sign and moves every house in your chart along with it. Birth certificates are the usual place to find it.

It is worth the trouble, because the rising sign does more structural work than any other placement. In whole sign houses it becomes the whole of your first house, and every sign after it takes the next house in order, which is why two people born on the same day can read their charts completely differently. If you want the longer version of what your rising sign means once you have it, start here.

Does It Show Stelliums and Chart Patterns?

Yes. Your chart marks the aspects between your planets and flags the patterns they form, including stelliums, which are three or more planets gathered in the same sign or house. A stellium concentrates a great deal of a chart into one area of life, so it is usually the first thing worth looking at once you have your wheel. For a fuller breakdown of what yours means, my stellium calculator takes it further.

Why Your Birth Time Matters

Your birth time changes the structure of the chart significantly.

Even a small shift in time can change:

your rising sign
house placements
chart angles
timing techniques
and how certain patterns express themselves

Without an accurate birth time, astrology becomes much harder to personalize deeply.

That’s why the free chart calculator uses your exact birth details to generate a full natal chart wheel with houses and placements calculated specifically for you.

If you do not know your exact birth time, you can still explore your chart. Just keep in mind that some placements and house positions may shift depending on the time used.

A More Modern Way to Explore Astrology

For a long time, learning astrology meant either sitting with an astrologer or spending years slowly piecing it together through books, forums, scattered websites and handwritten notes in the margins.

And honestly, a lot of astrology offerings still feel like they’re built for people who already know how to read charts.

You open a chart generator and get hit with tiny symbols, overwhelming reports and disconnected interpretations that assume you already understand what you’re looking at.

That’s part of why I wanted to create something like this.

You can now explore your own chart visually, click through placements, learn piece by piece and start recognizing patterns in a much more intuitive way. You’ll begin seeing how your placements work together in real time.

The goal here was never to replace astrologers or reduce astrology into quick automated answers.

It was to make chart exploration more accessible, more visually beautiful and more alive for people genuinely curious about understanding themselves more deeply.

Frequently Asked Questions About Free Birth Charts

Where can I get my birth chart for free?

You can generate a free birth chart online using your birth date, birth time, and birth location. This free astrology chart includes your planetary placements, rising sign, houses, and major chart details to help you start exploring your astrology more deeply.

What do I need to calculate my birth chart?

To calculate an accurate birth chart, you’ll need:

  • your birth date
  • exact birth time
  • birth location

Even small changes in birth time can affect your rising sign, house placements, and chart interpretation.

How accurate are birth charts?

Birth charts are only as accurate as the birth information entered. The most important detail is your exact birth time, since it determines your rising sign and house placements. Astrology is not about fixed fate though. It is about recognizing patterns, tendencies, cycles, and timing.

What’s the difference between a birth chart and a horoscope?

A horoscope is usually a broad interpretation based only on your Sun sign. A birth chart is personalized to your exact birth date, time, and location, creating a much more detailed map of your placements, houses, aspects, and repeating themes.

Can I still get a chart if I don’t know my birth time?

Yes, but some parts of the chart may be less accurate. Without a birth time, rising signs and house placements cannot be reliably calculated.

Is this birth chart really free?

Yes. You can generate and save your free birth chart without paying. Some deeper interpretations and advanced features are part of my expanded astrology tools and readings, but the chart itself is completely free to explore.

Does the free birth chart show my stellium?

Yes. If you have three or more planets in the same sign, the chart flags it. A stellium is the grouping most people come looking for, and it is the one you can spot without knowing much astrology, because the planets pile up in a single slice of the wheel.

What about other configurations like grand trines and grand crosses?

You can see the shapes in your chart already, drawn in the aspect lines. Knowing which one you are looking at is the harder part. Your Beautiful Birth Chart™ names every configuration in your chart, tells you which planets form it, and explains what that combination describes.

What makes this birth chart different from other free astrology sites?

Most free birth chart websites either overwhelm you with information or reduce your chart down to a few disconnected keywords and generic interpretations.

I wanted to create something that feels clearer, more visually beautiful, and helpful for real people trying to understand themselves through astrology.

This chart experience was designed to help you explore the deeper patterns in your chart without needing to already “speak astrology” fluently. It connects the pieces together in a more intuitive and beginner-friendly way.

You’ll find:

  • a clean, aesthetic chart experience
  • personalized placements and chart data
  • educational insights that go beyond Sun sign astrology
  • access to current transits and planetary movement
  • a more layered approach focused on patterns, themes, and self-awareness

It’s astrology designed to be explored, and to stay useful long after the first look.

And honestly, as both an artist and astrologer, I care a lot about the experience of interacting with your chart. Most astrology tools feel cold, cluttered, or overly technical. I wanted this to feel more human, approachable, and visually inspiring while still being rooted in real chart calculation and deeper astrology.
