Closing One Story While Another One Opens
The Virgo-Pisces axis has spent two years asking a version of the same question: how much control is necessary, and where has effort become a substitute for trust. Virgo wants to manage, refine, and improve. Pisces wants to surrender, feel, and release. A penumbral lunar eclipse lands at 2 degrees Virgo on February 20, 2027, belonging to the new Leo and Aquarius cycle while its luminaries fall in the old signs.
At the same time, a new story is already underway. The North Node shifted into Aquarius on July 26, and the solar eclipse in Leo on August 12, just two weeks before this one, opened that new chapter. For a brief window, you are standing between two eclipse stories: one asking you to finish releasing what Virgo-Pisces built, the other asking you to start stepping into what Aquarius-Leo is calling for. This Eclipse Returns to 4 Degrees Pisces, a Degree It Touched in 2007
On August 28, 2007, a total lunar eclipse landed at 4° Pisces. On August 28, 2026, a partial lunar eclipse lands at 4°54′ Pisces. Same calendar date, same degree, nineteen years apart.
That gap is the Metonic cycle. Nineteen solar years and 235 lunar months come out to nearly identical lengths, within a couple of hours of each other. When the two line up, the Moon returns to the same phase on the same date at almost the same degree of the zodiac. Meton of Athens documented it around 432 BCE, and Babylonian astronomers were working with it well before that.
This is a different cycle from the Saros series, which the two often get confused. Saros runs eighteen years and eleven days and governs the physical character of an eclipse, which is why eclipses in the same Saros family share a shape while landing on different dates in different parts of the world. The Metonic return holds the date and the degree. For chart work, that makes it the more useful of the two.
Metonic eclipse returns are limited. The lunar nodes drift by roughly a week each cycle, so any given series produces only a handful of returns before the alignment breaks down. A clean one carries weight because of how few of them there are.
How to Use It
