Annular Solar Eclipse February 6, 2027 in Aquarius
An annular solar eclipse is a new moon that passes directly in front of the Sun while sitting too far from Earth to cover it completely, so a ring of sunlight stays visible around the Moon’s silhouette. The annular solar eclipse of February 6, 2027 happens at 17°38′ Aquarius, on the North Node, at 10:56 AM Eastern.
Expect to be looked to before you feel ready. Aquarius eclipses on the North Node hand people something to hold on behalf of a group, and the position arrives through other people’s recognition instead of through your own decision. You find out you have been appointed by the way people start addressing you.
This is the first of five eclipses in 2027 and the first of a February pair. Its partner on February 20, a penumbral lunar eclipse at 2°06′ Virgo, closes the old Virgo and Pisces eclipse family while this one opens the Aquarius and Leo story. Both are summarized in the February 2027 eclipses overview.
What an annular solar eclipse at 17°38′ Aquarius means
A solar eclipse is a new moon with the nodes involved, which is what separates it from the twelve ordinary new moons of the year. The new moon seeds something and the nodes attach that seed to the collective story.
This one sits on the North Node, the ascending node, which in astrology points toward what the collective is moving into. Something gets introduced, the ground shifts toward it, and the following twelve months show what grew.

A total eclipse blacks the Sun out, while an annular eclipse leaves a ring, so the light never fully goes. What you get is a long, strange dimming where everything stays visible and nothing looks right, which is the Aquarian version of change: the structure keeps standing while the thing animating it goes dark.
Seventeen degrees of Aquarius is deep in the sign, past the part of Aquarius that still argues with tradition and into the part that has already left. The North Node here asks for the version of collective life that is organized around individual signal instead of around inherited agreement.
Everything below depends on one thing: which house of your chart Aquarius rules. The same eclipse that opens a career door for one person opens a private, invisible one for somebody else, and the degree decides whether it touches anything of yours at all.
Your Beautiful Birth Chart gives you your placements by sign and house, your aspects, and transits you can move forward and backward through by date. You can find 17°38′ Aquarius in your own wheel and see what is sitting near it before you read another word.
Why this eclipse opens the Aquarius and Leo eclipse era
The North Node entered Aquarius on July 26, 2026 and stays there until March 26, 2028, with the South Node in Leo for that whole window. If you are checking that date elsewhere and see early March 2028 instead, the difference is True Node versus Mean Node, and both are correct depending on which one the source uses.
February 2027 is where that nodal shift stops being theoretical. The eclipses of 2026 were still finishing the Virgo and Pisces cycle. February 6, 2027 is the first solar eclipse to land squarely inside the new nodal signs with the node itself close by, at 20°32′ Aquarius on the day.
The South Node in Leo releases the arrangement where one figure at the center holds the authority, the story and the credit. The North Node in Aquarius moves toward distributed capability, where individual people hold their own authority and contribute from it. That collective shift is the subject of the Sleeping Phoenix era.
Pluto in Aquarius sits at 5°30′ Aquarius on the day, working the same sign as the North Node for the next eighteen months, and the two meet exactly on November 16, 2027. The eclipses are the visible events inside that slower process.
What the February 6 2027 eclipse means for each rising sign
I work in whole sign houses, which means the entire sign of Aquarius is one house in your chart and the eclipse lands in that house wherever the degree falls. The opposite house, ruled by Leo, holds the Earth and the South Node and shows what is being released to make room.

New Moon Annular Solar Eclipse in Aquarius for Aries Rising
Aquarius is your eleventh house, Leo your fifth. This eclipse opens something through community, networks and the groups you belong to, and it asks you to loosen your grip on being the creative center of attention. Your work may start circulating through other people while you are nowhere near it. The discomfort is watching something you made travel without you attached to it, and the opening is how far it goes.
New Moon Annular Solar Eclipse in Aquarius for Taurus Rising
Aquarius is your tenth house, Leo your fourth. Career and public position are the field here, with the release happening somewhere in home, family or the private base you operate from. Something about how you are known professionally shifts, and it will likely cost you some version of the domestic arrangement that supported the old shape. Decide what the public role is for before you accept the next version of it.
New Moon Annular Solar Eclipse in Aquarius for Gemini Rising
Aquarius is your ninth house, Leo your third. Teaching, publishing, travel, belief and higher study open up, while the local, daily, conversational layer of your life thins out. You may find yourself with something larger to say and less patience for small exchanges. Uranus is sitting in your first house during this eclipse and stationing direct two days later, which makes February unusually eventful for you specifically.
New Moon Annular Solar Eclipse in Aquarius for Cancer Rising
Aquarius is your eighth house, Leo your second. This is shared resources, other people’s money, debt, inheritance, intimacy and the things you do not control alone. The release sits in your own earned income and your relationship to what you personally hold. Entanglement with someone else’s resources becomes the opening, which is uncomfortable for a sign that prefers its own walls.
New Moon Annular Solar Eclipse in Aquarius for Leo Rising
Aquarius is your seventh house, Leo your first. This eclipse is about partnership, one to one relationships and the people who see you up close, with the South Node releasing something in your own identity and self presentation. You are being asked to let other people matter more in the equation, and the version of yourself that handled everything alone is the part under pressure. For Leo risings this is the most personal eclipse of the 2026 to 2028 cycle.
New Moon Annular Solar Eclipse in Aquarius for Virgo Rising
Aquarius is your sixth house, Leo your twelfth. Daily work, routine, health, skill and service open, and what releases is hidden, unconscious or withdrawn. Something you have been carrying privately becomes a practical matter with a schedule attached. Mars is retrograde in your first house through this eclipse, so the body is part of the story whether you planned for that or not.
New Moon Annular Solar Eclipse in Aquarius for Libra Rising
Aquarius is your fifth house, Leo your eleventh. Creative work, pleasure, children and self expression open, while the release happens in groups, networks and collective involvement. You may find your own voice getting louder as your appetite for group consensus drops. That is the Aquarius North Node working in your favor, even when it costs you a room you used to sit comfortably in.
New Moon Annular Solar Eclipse in Aquarius for Scorpio Rising
Aquarius is your fourth house, Leo your tenth. Home, family, foundation and lineage open, and public position releases. Where you live and who you come from becomes more important than how you are known. The career cost is real, and for Scorpio risings that cost is generally the point.
New Moon Annular Solar Eclipse in Aquarius for Sagittarius Rising
Aquarius is your third house, Leo your ninth. Writing, speaking, local connection and the daily exchange of ideas open, while belief, study and distance release. The shift is from the big philosophy to the specific sentence. With Mercury stationing retrograde three days after this eclipse, expect the first version of what you have to say to need rewriting.
New Moon Annular Solar Eclipse in Aquarius for Capricorn Rising
Aquarius is your second house, Leo your eighth. Income, resources and what you personally hold open up, and the release sits in shared money, debt and dependence on other people’s capacity. This is a self sourcing eclipse for you in the most literal financial sense. Venus is in your first house on the day, which often makes the practical side easier to negotiate.
New Moon Annular Solar Eclipse in Aquarius for Aquarius Rising
Aquarius is your first house, Leo your seventh. This eclipse lands on your own body, identity and presentation, with the release happening in partnership. You are the one being handed the new position, and the cost is some version of the relationship that organized itself around who you used to be. Eclipses on the ascendant work slowly and then all at once, so give this the full twelve months.
New Moon Annular Solar Eclipse in Aquarius for Pisces Rising
Aquarius is your twelfth house, Leo your sixth. The opening is hidden: dreams, retreat, the unconscious, solitude, the part of your life nobody watches. The release happens in daily work and routine. Something is being built that you will not be able to show anyone for a while, and with Mercury stationing retrograde at 5°59′ Pisces on February 9, right on your first house, the instinct to explain yourself is going to be strong and early.
This post gives you the general meaning, and your own chart shows where this eclipse lands for you. The February 6 2027 eclipse in Human Design: Gate 13 and Gate 7
Every degree of the zodiac corresponds to one of the 64 Human Design gates. The full mapping is in the Human Design gates by degree table, and 17°38′ Aquarius falls inside Gate 13, the Fellowship of Man, which runs from 13°15′ to 18°52′ Aquarius.
Directly opposite, the Earth sits at 17°38′ Leo, inside Gate 7, the Army, which runs from 13°15′ to 18°52′ Leo.
Both are G Center gates, which in Human Design is the center of identity, direction and love, so this eclipse activates the axis of direction itself.
Gate 13 is the listener. It is the gate that receives other people’s stories, holds what it is told, and carries the collective memory of what happened. People tell Gate 13 things they have not told anyone. Its pressure is the weight of holding, and its shadow is the assumption that holding everything is the same as being responsible for it.
Gate 7 is the gate of role in leadership, specifically leadership through function. It is the person who holds the position the group needs held. Gate 7 exercises influence through where you stand, and volume has very little to do with it.
Put those two together and the February 6 eclipse reads as an appointment. Something gets held, a role gets assigned, and the group decides both. That is the Aquarius North Node story told in mechanical terms.
Gate 13 pairs with Gate 33 to form the Channel of the Prodigal, the design of a witness. Gate 13 gathers the experience and Gate 33 retells it so the collective can learn from it. The total solar eclipse of August 2, 2027 lands in Gate 33, which puts both solar eclipses of 2027 on opposite ends of one channel, six months apart, in the year the collective incarnation cross changes. The year gathers in February and tells the story in August.
Uranus is sitting on Gate 20 during this eclipse
On February 6, Uranus is at 1°41′ Gemini, and it stations direct there two days later on February 8. That degree sits inside Gate 20, Contemplation, which runs from 0°07′ to 5°45′ Gemini.
Gate 20 is one of the four gates of the Cross of the Sleeping Phoenix, the incarnation cross taking over from the Cross of Planning. Uranus in Gemini has been crossing Gate 20 since it entered the sign, and this February station is the slowest, most concentrated pass it makes over that gate in the entire transit. Uranus stops, sits on the gate of the now, and turns around.
If you carry Gate 20 in your own design, February 2027 is a month to watch closely. More on that gate specifically in the Gate 20 breakdown.
Every other transit and sky configuration around February 6, 2027
Here is the full sky at greatest eclipse, with the Human Design gate for each position.
| Body | Position | Gate |
|---|---|---|
| Sun | 17°38′ Aquarius | 13 |
| Moon | 17°38′ Aquarius | 13 |
| Mercury | 5°09′ Pisces | 55 |
| Venus | 3°31′ Capricorn | 10 |
| Mars | 5°40′ Virgo, retrograde | 59 |
| Jupiter | 22°37′ Leo, retrograde | 4 |
| Saturn | 10°46′ Aries | 21 |
| Uranus | 1°41′ Gemini, stationary | 20 |
| Neptune | 2°28′ Aries | 25 |
| Pluto | 5°30′ Aquarius | 41 |
| North Node | 20°32′ Aquarius | 49 |
| South Node | 20°32′ Leo | 4 |
Four things in that table change how the eclipse behaves.
Uranus stations direct on February 8 at 1°41′ Gemini, two days after the eclipse. A station is the slowest a planet moves and therefore the most concentrated, and Uranus turning around on a Sleeping Phoenix cross gate inside an eclipse window is the defining event of the month.
Mercury stations retrograde on February 9 at 5°59′ Pisces, three days after the eclipse, so whatever gets introduced gets revised almost immediately and the first account of it will not be the final one. Mercury backs into Aquarius on February 18 and stations direct on March 3 at 20°55′ Aquarius, within a degree of the North Node. The evergreen Mercury retrograde guide covers how to work with that.
Mars is retrograde in Virgo from January 10 to April 1, having stationed retrograde at 10°26′ Virgo, inside Gate 40. Gate 40 belongs to the outgoing Cross of Planning, the gate of the bargain and the workplace. 2027 opens with Mars reversing on a gate of the dying cross, and Mars backs into Leo on February 21.
Jupiter is retrograde in Leo at 22°37′, conjunct the South Node at 20°32′ Leo. Both are in Gate 4. Jupiter in Leo meeting the South Node expands the thing being released, which is part of why the Leo material feels so insistent right before it goes. Jupiter stations direct on April 12 at 17°00′ Leo, inside Gate 7, the same gate the Earth occupies at this eclipse.
The slower background: Saturn in Aries for the whole of 2027, Neptune in Aries for the whole of 2027, Uranus in Gemini for the whole of 2027 with no return to Taurus, and Pluto in Aquarius holding Gate 41 all year without leaving it. Saturn makes no exact aspect to Uranus, Neptune or Pluto at any point in 2027. The 2026 Saturn and Neptune conjunction is behind us and nothing replaces it this year.
A yod forms across the same days. Mars sits at the apex at 4 degrees Virgo, quincunx both Neptune in Aries and Pluto in Aquarius, which are sextile each other. Mercury opposes Mars from 5 degrees Pisces, which focuses the whole configuration back through one point. The Mars to Pluto side perfects on February 6, the day of the eclipse. The Mars to Neptune side perfects on February 14. And Mercury stations retrograde at 5°59′ Pisces, the same degree it holds here, so the planet opposing the apex turns around while sitting on it.
You can track the rest of the year in the transit calendar.
How to work with an Aquarius North Node eclipse
An eclipse opens something, and what comes through it depends on what you already are.
The appointment here arrives through other people. Someone will ask you to hold something, or will start treating you as the person who holds it. Gate 13 holds and Gate 7 takes the position, and neither of those starts with you volunteering. So the work is discernment about what you accept, and effort toward getting chosen does nothing here.
Three things I would do with this window. Watch what people bring to you in the ten days around February 6, because Gate 13 receives and what arrives is information. Hold any decision made in that window through the Mercury retrograde, since the story will change by March 3. And notice where you are still organizing your work around being the Leo figure at the center, because the South Node is going to keep making that expensive for the next fourteen months.
If you are newer to this and the house and degree language is doing nothing for you, learn astrology is the place to start, and observational astrology is how I teach watching a transit live instead of reading about it afterward.
The question underneath this eclipse
Gate 13 and Gate 7 ask the same uncomfortable question: what are you already holding that you never decided to hold, and what is it for?
Most people carry something they are good at so naturally that it never reads as a contribution. You hold the group’s history, or you are the one people tell things to, or you occupy a position so steadily that nobody notices it is a position. Gate 7 leadership is influence through function, which is close to invisible from the inside.
That is what this eclipse surfaces.
There is a version of you who has stopped asking what she is supposed to be doing with her life, because she can see what she has been doing all along and has decided to build on it deliberately. She is not waiting to be told. She recognized the pattern herself and started pointing it somewhere.
Your Contribution Pattern is how you get there. It shows you the contribution themes already moving through your work, your voice and your instincts, so the thing you keep circling stops being a question and becomes a direction.
FAQ
What time is the annular solar eclipse on February 6, 2027?
The eclipse is exact at 10:56 AM Eastern. The degree is 17°38′ Aquarius.
Where will the February 2027 annular solar eclipse be visible?
The path of annularity crosses Chile, Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil in South America, then the Atlantic, then Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo, Benin and Nigeria in West Africa. Maximum annularity lasts 7 minutes 51 seconds. A partial eclipse is visible over a much wider area on either side of that path.
Is the February 6, 2027 eclipse a North Node or South Node eclipse?
North Node. It occurs at the Moon’s ascending node, which is why it reads as an opening toward the Aquarius story instead of a release of the Leo one. The February 20 lunar eclipse two weeks later is the South Node half of the season.
What is the difference between an annular and a total solar eclipse?
In a total solar eclipse the Moon covers the Sun’s disk completely and the sky goes dark. In an annular eclipse the Moon is farther from Earth, so it covers only the middle of the Sun and leaves a visible ring of light. The 2027 eclipse year contains one of each: this annular eclipse in February and the total solar eclipse of August 2 at 9°55′ Leo.
Which Human Design gate does the February 6, 2027 eclipse fall in?
Gate 13, the Fellowship of Man, which spans 13°15′ to 18°52′ Aquarius. The Earth opposite sits in Gate 7, the Army, at the same degree of Leo. Both are G Center gates, and Gate 13 forms the Channel of the Prodigal with Gate 33, which is where the August 2, 2027 total solar eclipse lands.
How long do the effects of a solar eclipse last?
A solar eclipse seeds a story that develops over roughly the following six to twelve months, with the next eclipse on the same axis often marking a turn in it. For this one, watch March 3 when Mercury stations direct within a degree of the North Node, and August 2 when the partner gate is eclipsed.
Next in this series: the penumbral lunar eclipse of February 20, 2027 at 2°06′ Virgo, which falls on the 55 and 59 axis of the Cross of the Sleeping Phoenix.
